Mixed discrete/continuous specifications in sampled-data H2-optimal control

چکیده
The increasing use of digital equipment in control in the last half century made a tremendous impact on controller design methodology. On the other hand, it had little affect on the control problem formulation: the control goals to a large extent still remain those of the analog world. The goal of this paper is to introduce and justify a new approach to sampled-data control system design, which enables one to account for the special opportunities, introduced by the employment of digital equipment. The essence of this approach is the simultaneous treatment of both continuousand discrete-time performance requirements; hence, mixed discrete/continuous specifications (MDCS). In the paper, the sampled-data H MDCS problem is formulated and solved. As a by-product of the MDCS treatment several novel technical results are obtained. Illustrative examples, demonstrating the potential benefits of the proposed approach are presented. ∗Supported by The Center for Absorption in Science, Ministry of Immigrant Absorption State of Israel. †Phone: +972 4 8293149; Fax: +972 4 8324533; E-mail: [email protected] ‡Phone: +972 4 8292086; Fax: +972 4 8324533; E-mail: [email protected]

Optimal Hold Functions for MDCS Sampled-Data Problems
In this paper the H and H∞ sampled-data problems with mixed discrete/continuous specifications (MDCS) are considered. The hold function is not fixed a-priory but rather is the design parameter. The (sub)optimal controller obtained is of the form of a serial interconnection of a (sub)optimal digital controller and a (sub)optimal hold function.
متن کاملAn exact treatment of the achievable closed-loop H2 performance of sampled-data controllers: from continuous-time to open-loop
In this paper we investigate the closed-loop performance of a sampled-data control system by utilizing exact discretization techniques. In particular, for an H2 performance measure we give exact expressions for the closed-loop cost for a given sample interval h. After applying discrete-time LQG synthesis to the sampled-data system, the achievable performance is evaluated for fast sampling near ...
متن کاملMixed H 2 =h 1 Control of Sampled-data Systems
A worst-case mixed H 2 =H 1-optimal control problem is formulated and solved for sampled-data systems. The solution is obtained in terms of a set of synthesis equations, which correspond to similar synthesis equations for the continuous and discrete mixed H 2 =H 1 problems. The mixed H 2 =H 1 problem can be applied to the design of controllers which achieve robust H 2 performance for uncertain ...
متن کاملA MODEL FOR MIXED CONTINUOUS AND DISCRETE RESPONSES WITH POSSIBILITY OF MISSING RESPONSES
A model for missing data in mixed binary and continuous responses, which can be used on cross-sectional data, is presented. In this model response indicator for the binary response can be dependent on the continuous response. A closed form for the likelihood is found. For data with a complicated pattern of missing responses some new residuals are also proposed. The model of multiplicative heter...
متن کاملFORCED WATER MAIN DESIGN MIXED ANT COLONY OPTIMIZATION
Most real world engineering design problems, such as cross-country water mains, include combinations of continuous, discrete, and binary value decision variables. Very often, the binary decision variables associate with the presence and/or absence of some nominated alternatives or project’s components. This study extends an existing continuous Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm to simultan...
